The Fernox CC1 90 PICV Valve Pack is a pre-engineered commissioning kit designed for use with the CC1 90 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt. The package enables accurate flow control through the side-stream circuit, helping engineers achieve BG29-compliant operation and ensuring the correct proportion of system water passes through the separator within a 24-hour period.
The CC1 90 PICV Valve Pack has been developed to provide a simple and reliable method of controlling flow through the CC1 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt 90. By accurately regulating side-stream flow rates, the valve pack helps ensure the total system water volume can pass through the separator within a 24-hour period, supporting BSRIA BG29 guidance and optimum separator performance.

2 x CC1 Pressure & Temperature Gauges

Suitable for:
Heating systems from 166 kW to 7,500 kW
Cooling systems from 133 kW to 6,000 kW
Systems with water volumes between 2,000 and 90,000 litres
Single pump and twin pump installations
DN15 (1/2″), DN20 (3/4″) and DN25 (1″) pipework connections
The integrated Pressure Independent Control Valve enables accurate adjustment of flow through the side-stream circuit, helping ensure that the total system water volume can pass through the CC1 90 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt within a 24-hour period, in accordance with BSRIA guidance.
The required flow rate can be calculated based on the total system water volume:
Required flow rate = Total system volume ÷ 86,400 seconds
For systems where the total water volume is not known, it can be estimated using the system’s kW rating:
Heating systems: kW × 12 = approximate system volume in litres
Cooling systems: kW × 15 = approximate system volume in litres
The calculated flow rate can then be set on the CC1 90 PICV to control and stabilise flow through the side-stream circuit.
Operating Principle:
The PICV valve is adjusted to achieve the required flow rate based on the total system water volume. Once commissioned, the valve limits and stabilises flow through the CC1 90 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt, helping ensure the required volume of system water passes through the unit within 24 hours.
The supplied sight flow indicator allows visual verification of flow, while the pressure and temperature gauges support monitoring and commissioning activities.
The appropriate pipe size should be selected according to the total system water volume:
Total System Volume Pipe Size
2,000–36,000 litres DN15 – 1/2″
36,000–53,000 litres DN20 – 3/4″
53,000–90,000 litres DN25 – 1″
Installation and commissioning should be carried out by suitably qualified personnel in accordance with local regulations and system design requirements.
The PICV should be selected and adjusted according to the system water volume, required flow rate and pipe size. Refer to the installation instructions and commissioning guidance supplied with the product.
The valve pack is suitable for both single-pump and twin-pump installations. The supplied valves, gauges and fittings should be installed around the CC1 90 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt in accordance with the recommended installation arrangement.
