The Fernox CC1 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt 90 is a high-performance side stream filtration, air removal, and chemical dosing unit designed for commercial and industrial closed-loop HVAC systems up to 90,000 litres.
It provides magnetic filtration, antimicrobial fine filtration down to 0.5 micron, automatic air venting, and an integrated 5.5L dosing pot, all within a robust stainless steel vessel.
The CC1 Side Stream Filter continuously removes magnetic and non-magnetic debris, microbubbles, dirt, and bacterial contamination, helping extend the lifespan and improve the efficiency of boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, and pumps.
The Fernox CC1 Side Stream Filter Air & Dirt 90 is an all-in-one solution engineered to deliver superior water quality management in commercial HVAC systems. It integrates magnetic separation, fine particulate filtration, air elimination and chemical dosing into a single compact, wall-mounted unit.
Using a combination of high-strength neodymium magnets and an antimicrobial nylon cartridge (down to 0.5 micron), the CC1 Side Stream unit removes sludge, corrosion debris, suspended solids, biofouling, and entrained air.
Its 316 stainless steel vessel is polished internally to prevent bacterial colonisation and ensure easy cleaning.
The unit complies fully with BSRIA BG29 and BG50 for commissioning, ongoing maintenance, inhibitor treatment, solids removal, pre-treatment, air removal, dynamic flushing, and online cleaning.
With no need to isolate or shut the system down for servicing, the CC1 is ideal for critical environments where uptime is essential.

Operating Principle
As system water enters the Fernox CC1:
1. Magnetic Separation
Four 8,500 Gauss neodymium magnet bars (encased in stainless steel) are fully submerged in the flow path to capture ferrous material such as magnetite.
2. Antimicrobial Cartridge Filtration
A spun-bonded nylon cartridge removes non-magnetic solids down to 0.5 micron. The cartridge includes silver-ion antimicrobial technology, which disrupts bacterial respiration and neutralises microorganisms on contact.
3. Air Removal
The stainless steel automatic air vent releases microbubbles and trapped air, helping reduce noise and strain on system components.
4. Chemical Dosing
The 5.5L dosing pot allows inhibitors and treatment chemicals to be introduced quickly and safely without shutting down the system.
5. Drain & Maintenance
A dedicated drain connection ensures quick vessel emptying, enabling rapid filter replacement. The unit’s design prevents system blockage even if filters are not serviced regularly.
