FERNOX CLEANS UP FOR EARTH DAY

Global water treatment manufacturer Fernox has proudly supported this year’s Earth Day. Once again, employees at the Woking-based company took to the streets in their community for a litter picking initiative. A record number of colleagues joined together to address the issue of rubbish spoiling Sheerwater Canalside and fly tipping in the surrounding streets. Armed with an array of litter pickers and grabbers, this enthusiastic eco army were applauded by local residents and cyclists for their efforts.

Earth Day is an annual event that aims to encourage businesses, governments, and citizens to invest in our planet and act on climate change through a range of initiatives, large and small. It promotes conservation and restoration, reducing plastic pollution, and raising awareness of the carbon footprint of food, fashion, and products – as well as building climate and environmental literacy, to educate all generations and encourage positive change. Fernox approach these values on a continual basis, with a keen focus on the incremental ways that can affect change year-round.

To mark the day, Fernox hosted a company-wide litter pick as part of Earth Day’s ‘The Great Global Cleanup®’. This worldwide campaign looks to remove billions of pieces of rubbish from streets, rivers, lakes and green spaces to reduce plastic pollution and improve habitats.

Charel Marais, European Sales Director at Fernox said: “Here at Fernox, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact – A commitment to energy efficiency is at the foundation of Fernox and the development of its water treatment products since 1964. Sustainability is engrained in our company culture and is at the core of everything we do.

“It was fantastic to see so many colleagues come together to take part in our litter picking initiative for Earth Day, but disappointing that we were able to fill so many bags of rubbish. We hope that together, we can continue to make a positive impact on our local community and beyond.”
