    Fernox officially opened the Fernox Experience and The Ernie McDonald Training Academy in Woking, at an Autumn event that brought together customers, industry influencers, supply chain partners and press. The new interactive academy offers installers, apprentices and trainees at varying levels of experience the chance to gain product knowledge as well as practical training. The launch event, which took place in September and included a welcome from Fernox General Manager Charel Marais, followed by the official ribbon cutting ceremony, lunch and the chance for attendees to tour the Fernox facility, including our research and development centre. Named after Ernie McDonald our General Manager for over 25 years, the academy showcases the full Fernox product range while giving an in-depth insight into how products for both domestic and commercial applications work. The Fernox Experience can be booked for bespoke sessions to meet the needs of new or existing customers, and those currently studying, with Fernox partnering with numerous colleges.     Fernox has recently received CIPHE CPD approval for its online training course, which offers valuable insights into the importance of chemical water treatment and filter technology. The course provides a comprehensive overview of the Fernox product range, explaining how it addresses common system challenges and highlighting the key regulations installers must follow.     Fernox has hosted its annual charity golf day since 2010, and in that time we have raised well over £100,000 for a range of worthy causes. This year, the event once again proved a great success raising over £11,000 in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospice boosted by a generous donation from the ESI Foundation. At the Fernox golf day, beat the pro, longest drive, and nearest the pin contests, helped to encourage healthy competition between the Fernox team, suppliers, and valued customers which made up the fifteen teams taking part. Prizes were handed out to celebrate the “best team” award and the “best player” award, won by Baileys and Lou Kearney from Navien respectively Shooting Star Hospice provides vital care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions providing essential support to children and their families during incredibly difficult times.     Fernox has launched its TF1 Sigma Mini Installer Pack, giving installers everything they need to clean, protect and guard a central heating system in line with BS 7593:2019. Featuring the popular TF1 Sigma Mini filter, the pack is ideal for smaller volume systems with restricted space around the boiler, including social housing and new build properties.     A record number of employees volunteered their time on Earth Day, 22nd April, for our fifth annual litter pick initiative. The team's efforts resulted in the collection of a significant amount of rubbish from across Horsell Common, contributing greatly to the tidiness and upkeep of the local area. Earth day, a global movement, raises awareness about environmental conservation and activism while encouraging individuals to appreciate the outdoors. It encourages people to find ways to preserve and improve the environment. At Fernox, environmental conservation and sustainability are core values, and employees embrace the opportunity to give back to their community.     We are pleased to announce the appointment of Charel Marais as General Manager, effective 1st April 2025. This promotion follows the retirement of Ernie McDonald. Charel Marais joined Fernox in 2021 and has spent the past four years successfully leading our European commercial organisation, and more recently, overseeing global supply chain. With over 21 years of experience in senior roles within the HVAC industry, Charel is a respected and prominent figure in the market.  His deep knowledge of the sector and understanding of its customers will allow him to continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business. Marais commented, “I’m honoured and delighted to take on this role. It’s an exciting time for Fernox as we continue to refine and strengthen our portfolio of high-quality water treatment chemistry and system filters. Since joining Fernox in 1999, Ernie has contributed to the culture of excellence here at Fernox and while he will be retiring from his current role, he will continue to support Charel and the team as a Senior Advisor.     Fernox recently partnered with our local council for a community tree planting event. Fernox employees, customers, partners, and children from a local infant school all joined the efforts to plant 300 bare root whip trees and four fruit trees in the borough. The occasion, which formed part of our 60th anniversary celebrations and ongoing sustainability programme, was organised to support the local council’s ambitious climate strategy. Surrey County Council has pledged to plant 1.2 million trees in Surrey, one for every resident, by 2030, as part of its aim to be carbon neutral by 2050. The tree planting event is just one of Fernox’s many initiatives forming part of its continued focus on care and giving under its corporate ‘ESI Cares’ programme. ESI Cares empowers Fernox employees to support their chosen charities and local causes and offers donation matching as well as paid time off for all staff to participate in volunteering activities of their choice. Ernie McDonald, General Manager at Fernox said: “Giving back to the community we’ve been part of for so many years is something we’re deeply passionate about and this event was a meaningful opportunity for us to support our local area as well as make a contribution to the health of the planet.
